Introduction
Arium is a browser-based tool for artists and curators to create engaging virtual exhibitions, bring story and context to their artwork and connect with their communities in a shared social experience. Event hosts are able to customize a 3D rendered environment to match the needs of their event or experience. And their guests navigate this space freely, communicating with one another using spatial audio and video, bringing a sense of social curiosity and exploration to remote arts experiences.
This documentation site contains information about Arium's current capabilities as well as guides for setting up your virtual exhibition space or gallery.
Note: Arium is changing quickly, so certain details may be out of date. If you notice anything confusing, please email us at info@arium.xyz.
Setting up a Space - Overview
This introductory video will walk you through the basics of setting up an exhibition space within Arium; create a space, upload and place images, videos, and 3d models in it and host an event within your space.
Current Capabilities
Creating an experience in Arium can be roughly divided into three phases: building an environment, adding your media and live event hosting. Building an environment involves setting the terrain, lighting, rendering settings and any architectural elements you may want. Adding media involves adding your NFTs, images, 3D models, videos, curatorial text and any other content you want your guests to see. And live event hosting includes live streaming, broadcasting and other live production tools.
A few things to note:
- Live Editing The Arium editor is a live editing tool. This means that any changes you make in the editor will be immediately visible to everyone within the 3D environment. This opens up a lot of possibilities for changing an environment during a live event. Some of the ways this has been used to great effect include: revealing a portal to another space, changing the sky or altering the architecture in which guests congregate at a crucial moment in the live event.
- Collaborative Editing The Arium editor is a collaborative tool. You can work at the same time with any number of collaborators within this shared 3D environment. Because it is a live editing tool, you will see each other's changes as you work.
- Environment Templates Arium provides a number of templated environments from which you can choose to start adding media and live hosting. And even if you choose these templates, you can make changes to the templated environment within the editor.
